Short History
|
The Star Boatshed
was built after the war in the 1940's by Arthur Makin and his daughter,
Iris.
It has had several owners and has basically been operating as a boatshed since its construction. People have been able to enjoy the Woronora River from the hire craft for over fifty years. The Star Boatshed has been identified by locals for many years and is locally known as 'the boatshed'. Local children have enjoyed canoeing, stocking up on fishing supplies, and of course the array of lollies, drinks, ice creams, pies and sausage rolls. Today, this is still the case. Several High Schools have utilised the boatshed's canoeing facilities for some years. One in particular, Jannali High, has been a regular for over twenty years and still participate in the uniqueness of the activity and the environment. The students and teachers alike, enjoy themselves. The boatshed has been called 'The Star Boatshed ' from the 1960's, perhaps earlier. It is also known as Woronora River Boatshed, Woronora River Canoe Centre and Allstar boats. |
